Welcome to Warrior Golf Academy. Our goal is to foster a positive growth experience for our Indigenous golfers. To provide them with the most comprehensive golf academy of its king in Canada while fostering our traditions and identity.

At Warrior Golf, we want to keep our Indigenous youth focused on growing in their love for the game of golf. Our core values and personal philosophy are games, grades, and growth.

We know that the holistic development of the complete athlete will be what makes our program great. Our golfers will have the best resources in Canada that will allow them to move on to NCAA Division I and Division III or local colleges and university golf programs.

Warrior Golf offers a complete year-round development program. We will have the best teachers, technologies, and facilities to give our athletes all they need to grow in every area of their lives both on and off the course. Our goal is to open up a wide variety of opportunities in the game of golf for Indigenous golfers.

Sports Value

Grades: We Understand that sports is the vehicle and our education and grades are the fuel that will lead to success in all areas of our lives. Warrior Golf is committed to seeing that all of their students are at the top of their class when it comes to education.

Game: Warrior Golf Academy is the first of its kind in Canada. Our goal its to give athletes an elite year round golf development program. We have partnered with the local Alberta PGA to provide the best instruction to our golfers. From our industry leading top indoor practice facilities, to our group and individual golf lessons, to our golf specific physical training. We give our athletes every opportunity to reach their goals when it comes to their golf game.

Growth: We believe that development as an athlete comes with a wholistic approach. Utilizing our grounding Seven Grandfather principles (Love, Respect, Truth, Wisdom, Honesty, Bravery, and Humility) our athletes will grow physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, on and off the golf course. We have a proven developmental process that will help our athletes create true awareness of where their games are currently and the steps that they need to take to excel in all areas of their lives.

Program Objectives

Our program focuses on the following areas to help our golfers take that next step towards a career in golf.

  • Technical: Tee shots, approach play, short game, recovery, bunker play, putting, digital video analysis, practice plans and personal drills.

  • Strategy: Planning, preparation, course management and strategy, adaptability, composure, and commit).

  • Physical: Strength, power, speed, stability, flexibility, coordination.

  • Goal Setting: Purpose, self evaluation, action, reflection, habits, short-term, long-term.

  • Life Skills: Character, integrity, values, discipline, community, accountibility.

  • Mental Skills: Personal philosophy, vision, character strengths, high performance, mindfulness, control, focus, calm, confidence, grit, atomic habits.

Program Details

FULL-TIME

This program is for golfers who are looking for year-round development and want a full year to take their on and off course game to the next level. This program is for those golfers who are looking to play tournament golf, both locally and nationally. This program offers the full compartment that the Warrior Golf program has to offer and will prepare you for a career in golf.

  • Membership and full playing and practice privileges at Cattail Crossing Golf and Winter Club

  • Three group golf lessons per week, 3-9 hole inter club competition events with on course instruction from April-June. Three Training sessions per week at Cattail from September- February.

  • Two private golf lessons per month with digital video swing analysis for each student

  • Eight mental skills/golf specific dry land training sessions per Month

  • IDP (Individual development plan) meet once a week with Warrior Golf staff to review progress and goals

  • Three golf specific seminar featuring local PGA Professionals

  • Entry into Warrior Golf Tour Events

  • Tournament planning and guidance for competition season

  • Local Golf Team events vs other golf Academies, 4 McLennan Ross Events preparation, Practice Rounds and Coaching from Warrior golf staff

  • Two Provincial Warrior Golf Events practice rounds and Coaching from Warrior Golf Staff.

  • Use of the DECADE golf system to track golfers advanced stats and give then PGA level guidance when playing tournament

  • Meals during training sessions from Out of Bounds Restaurant

  • Team uniform on and off course package

PART-TIME

This Option is for the golfer looking to have fun, while learning the basic foundations of golf. A weekly clinic will provide a basic lesson ranging from putting to driving. Following a lesson, lunch will be provided. During lunch each golfer will have the opportunity to listen to a guest speaker, who will provide guidance on a wide range of topics such as life experience, sports, culture, identity, etc. To finish the day each golfer will have the chance to put their lessons directly into action by playing a supervised game of 9 holes. Each week will provide a fun format keeping in mind all skill levels Regardless, if a golfer took part once or more than once the goal is to provide the golfer with a new experience every time.

Would start as soon as the course allows: Cost $150 Per Student (Max 10)

$150 Includes:

  • Group golf lessons

  • Lunch

  • Guest speaker experience

  • Nine holes (each week will provide a fun format designed for all skill levels)

Warrior Golf Staff


  • Director of Golf

    Jason is a CPGA professional with 9 years of experience as a teacher and 22 years of experience as a high-performance mindset coach in hockey and golf. He owns Big Picture Coaching, where he works with athletes from the NHL, NCAA, WHL, and Juniors, as well as minor sport athletes. Jason’s passion is coaching and leading teams in sports and business. His personal philosophy is “love, serve, inspire.” Jason will serve as director of golf and lead our athletes in their pursuit of helping them live out the Warrior golf program philosophy, which is grades, games, and growth. He will oversee all aspects of our program, coaching both our athletes and coaches. 


  • Program Coordinator and Assistant Coach

    Mikayla is an Indigenous woman and a golfer from Samson Cree Nation in Treaty 6 territory. She was a team Alberta coach for NAIG in 2023. She is working towards her Secondary Education with the Aboriginal Teacher Education Program at the University of Alberta Mikayla has been golfing since the age of three. and started competing at the age of twelve. Mikayla’s determination and exemplary skills have led her to win gold at the Metro Edmonton Girls golf tournament in 2017 while golfing with the Leduc Composite Tigers along with bronze at the NAIG 2017 Toronto tournament with Team Alberta. Competing for several years at Alberta Indigenous Games, she won gold in 2017 and 2019, and won silver in the co-ed event in 2021. She has also played two years with the University of Alberta Pandas golf team. Mikayla currently teaches and facilitates junior golf camps with Warrior Golf and is working towards obtaining her pro status.

  • NCAA Resume and swing video preparation

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday @ 2:30-5:30 PM

  • Full swing, chipping, and putting group lessons and instruction at Cattail Crossing Golf and Winter Club.

  • Play 3-9 hole rounds with Warrior Golf coaches, working on a variety of skills/challenges and helping each golfer with on-course coaching and tournament preparation.

Monday and Friday @ 1:30-2:30 PM

  • Mental skills training, sport specific nutritional training

  • PGA speakers series seminars on playing tournament golf

  • Golf specific training session at the Golf Project

  • Individual Private Lessons with our Warrior Golf Teachers at the Cattail

  • Goal setting and reviewing each golfer’s individual development plan with Warrior Staff
